This week I want to share with you an excellent natural ear ache remedy. It is so good that my son told me I needed to make these and share them with the world promptly!
Sunday at about 3 in the morning my 8 year old comes into my room crying that his ear hurts and his body is on fire, his temp is so high. He crawls into bed with me and I tell him he has to go back to his own room becuase I don’t want him to get his baby sister sick (she sleeps with me.) He takes his little self back to his room and lays down, crying from the pain, he tries to wake his brother up to comfort him, poor guy I felt so sad for him. I knew I had some garlic, mullien olive oil ear drops, but I really don’t like the invasiveness of dropping something into the ear, and the smell gets in everything for days… not pleasant when you feel awful.
So instead I pull out my trusty epsom salts, sewing machine, and essential oils, which is really what I always do when I’m not sure where to go to rebalance health issues.
I came up with this fantastic Natural Ear Ache Remedy pillow and put it on my sons ear. Within the half hour the crying had ceased and he fell asleep. The next morning he woke up healthy happy, smelling fragrant, and telling me I had to share this pillow.
Why the Natural Ear Ache Remedy pillow works;
Epsom salts consist of magnesium sulfate which work on the body to pull out pain and aid in healing. It is a vital mineral in our bodies to help in dealing with stressors of all types (mental, physical, emotional, spiritual, cellular etc..) Epsom salts pull out toxins, and increase circulation, reduce inflammations and speed up the healing process. Epsom salts are antimicrobial, and antibacterial.
I put in a blend of essential oils that support the workings of the epsom salts. These are not entirely necessary, but can be really helpful and aid in quick results.
Some great ones to use are
Eucalyptus (just be mindful that you use a safe kind if the child is very young as certain types of eucalyptus cause spasms of the glottis.)
The items needed to make your Natural Ear Ache Remedy salt pillow
One peice of fabric 10 x 5 inches large, you want something breathable, but not with holes large enough that the salt will fall through.
I am using a bamboo cotton blend because bamboo is antifungal and antibacterial, but muslin, or quilting cotton works fine.
1/2 cup Epsom Salts
Essential oils (Optional)
Thread and a sewing machine
A containter to blend the Epsom salts and essential oils
All the love
To start, take your fabric and fold it in half so it makes a square, pretty sides together.
Using a small straight stitch so no salt will fall out, Sew around the edges using about 1/4 inch seam allowance, keeping one edge open.
Now flip your square inside out.
If you are using essential oils, now is the time to add them to your salt and blend thoroughly, about 2-10 drops total.
Now pour the salt into your wee pillowcase.
Great! Now roll the rough edges in on themselves about 1/4 inch or so.
Now take it over to your sewing machine and sew it up.
Tada! You have a Natural Ear Ache Remedy pillow! Now put it in a ziploc bag to keep it fresh until you need to use it.
If and when you do need to use your Natural Ear Ache Remedy pillow, simply place it over the childs ear and let it work it’s magic!
